    Wavy Lee, born as Cameron Horton, is originally from Birmingham, Alabama, but currently resides in Georgia. Music has been a part of Wavy Lee’s life since he can remember, from his grandfather being in the gospel music industry, to his uncle playing the piano at his grandmother’s house. Wavy says he was inspired by a number of artists from James Brown’s soulful flare who broke to the barriers of a poor black man living in America to the globally influential Queen. Early on wavy lee had a thing for competition and as well as being in the spotlight, which caused him to get in trouble for being a class clown. However, it still allowed him to be one of the brightest kids in the classroom according to his teachers.

 

     Wavy Lee looked up to his uncle Eddie, who had a passion for music. His uncle had a small production studio setup at his grandmother’s house. One day wavy was listening to his uncle play the keyboard and he asked his uncle to let him rap on his microphone. At age 11, He had realized that found a new hobby, asking for drum sets and instruments was not out of the ordinary for his gift list on holidays.

 

    At Age 13, Wavy Lee recorded his first recording sessions with his late friend Jeremy Williams. The two had been best friends since first grade. They were “The closest thing to be brothers without being related”, says wavy lee. With music becoming a big part of Wavy’s Life, his mother moved him to Atlanta. He still was perusing his dream as being a football star and superior athlete. As a running back at North Gwinnett High school, Wavy Lee used music as motivation on and off the field.

In 2007, Wavy lee attended college to reunite with his old friend Jeremy Williams at Alabama State University where he Majored in accounting, but the first year of college did not work for him where he was placed on academic probation. Wavy Lee said,

“College wasn’t hard I just didn’t know my purpose and Alabama State Just wasn’t the right place for me, I never fit in there. I just wanted to enjoy being away from home and hang with friends I have not seen in years “.

The Next Year Wavy Lee Transferred to Alabama A&M University, There is where he really began to find Himself. His second year of college he became the ultimate socialite, where he began to party to promote and really made a name for his self around campus. Wavy said,

“I was always well known by my peers but, I was always shy when it came to meeting new people and on a campus with thousands of people, I never knew my face and name could get around so fast. Everybody thought I was arrogant and cocky but I was very shy and self-conscious”.

   

A Few weeks into the semester Wavy lee received a Call that would change his life forever. He found out that his long time best friend Jeremy Williams was shot and killed.  Two weeks prior to his death, he had a conversation with Williams about really wanting to persue his rap career. Wavy told him that he wants to rap, but he was in a dilemma to be a producer or rapper. Williams said,

“You can rap on your own beats and if you need another artist for your movement, I’ll do it.”

After that Wavy Lee’s Passion for being in the industry was something that he would never let go. As wavy, Lee stated,

“I would be in class writing raps when I was supposed to be taking notes, I was freestyling in the car when me and my friends went out, and I wrote a song for every girl that was special to me. I never wanted anything more than to make it in the music industry.”

Three years later Wavy Lee was officially a college dropout, he says it wasn’t intentional it just happened that way. At the age of 22 Wavy found out that he was having his first child. As wavy explains the situation:

“I found out my gf was pregnant 1 week before spring break, her parents found out one week after spring break .By the time the semester was over she was 2 months and I hadn’t told my family. I had 2 semesters and I would have been a graduate. I went home to go and try to get a summer job and make some money and planned to tell them in August. But, when I went home for the summer my parents told me I wasn’t  going  back because I wasn’t getting anything accomplished . I was already in trouble with my family. So I just waited until they found out, but I can’t lie those were some stressful months.”

 

The summer of 2013 Wavy Lee had gotten an internship with a much known local Atlanta Record label. He had gotten the internship through some old friends that he knew from his high school days. The dynamic duo artists/Producers FKI had taken a chance on him. As an intern, Wavy Lee really learned about being in the industry he says:

“That was a life changing experience I got to hang out with rappers that were actually on the radio, some even had platinum plaques. I could never thank SauceLord Rich and 1stFkI enough .The hardest thing about being in that situation was being humble; it is hard when to stay level headed when you getting free clothes, and kicking it with stars. Then I thought   about the situation. I am here, people know me but nobody knows my talent, and that was a problem for me. I probably would have been a lot further if I would have been patient.”

The beginning of 2014 Wavy Lee was finally recording his own music He Dropped his first mixtape as Wavy Lee titled “Atlanta Vice” and later that year he also Dropped  “We Want Wavy “.Now that its 2016 ,he plans to release multiple new projects. The last year and a half Wavy Lee  has been recording  non-stop. He Claims to have over 300 songs in his archive, so he may be a force to the industry in the next couple of months.
